BMW has been testing the compact commuter in the cold for more than a month and spy shots have poured in relentlessly. The elongated wheelbase and a bigger body talks though remain a speculation and images do not confirm the changes apparently. 2012 BMW 1 Series Spied 1

The next-gen BMW 1 Series has been spied a number of times before, but today we caught it testing in cold weather conditions in Northern Europe. The previously spied model was a turbocharged model with twin tailpipes, but this prototype has a naturally aspirated engine as we only managed to see a single tailpipe in these spy shots — which by the way, also reveal that the 2012 model will come with LED taillights and a twin kidney grille. The compact variant will probably sport a 105bhp petrol engine and a 136bhp turbo option. Also offered, there could be a 3.0L twin-turbo M1 option mated to a dual-clutch gearbox, the combination helping the car achieve a 0 to 60mph time of 4.7 seconds. Not bad, eh? [via ]

Published by on Aug 18th, 2009, No Comments

The much craved for 2011 BMW X3 was recently spied on track at Nurburgring, with a heavy camouflage. The SUV was spotted doing some late development high speed testing at the testing. There isn’t much known about the X3 but it will surely be available on the roads sometime next year. The facelifted variant will be more muscular in design thanks to the aggressive looking air intakes. It will come with two petrol variants — a naturally aspirated 3.0L in-line six with 230hp and a 3.0L new twin-turbo in-line six capable of producing 300hp. The diesel option will include a 2.0L 177hp and a more powerful 3.0L that would churn 300hp. [via ]

Along with other SLR tuners like RENNtech, Mansory or Brabus, Hamann wants to impress and manage to include great things like the two-tone paint scheme, tripple-pipe exhaust, roof air scoop, rear bumper diffuser, deep-dish 3-piece Hamann wheels, rear wheel arch flares, smoked tail light lens and a large rear wing. We’re waiting for them to go official with it because this baby is damn hot. – via
