SEAT Ibiza Good Stuff Limited Edition Partners Shakira’s European Tour

Published on Jun 29th, 2010, No Comments

What’s SEAT doing with Shakira? The launch of the car maker’s limited edition Ibiza Good Stuff in the UK takes off from the pop diva’s forthcoming European tour and has been named after her Good Stuff concerts.

The Columbian pop sensation-inspired Ibiza GS has been built on the same platform as the popular Ibiza 1.4 SE, and would be rolled out in hues of Candy White or Speed Blue. To be available in SC and five-door variants, the limited edition beauty would sport 16-inch Sonda alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, TomTom satellite navigation, an 8GB iPod Nano, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, automatic climate control, power windows
and mirrors, and a six-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system. The car would run powered by an 85 PS (63 kW / 84 hp) 1.4-liter petrol engine connected to a five-speed manual transmission.

The car offers 85 PS at 5,000 rpm, and would have the capability to race to 62 mph in just 11.8 seconds – 12.2 seconds for the 5dr. Prices would start at £12,300 for the SC and £12,710 for the five-door.

Environment concerns too are taken care of with CO2 emissions locked at 142 g/km. The Ibiza Good Stuff’s fuel consumption would be something around 47.1 mpg. Prices start at £12,300 for the SC and £12,710 for the five-door. The Shakira connection is extended beyond just the Good Stuff name.

SEAT will be bang in with the tour sponsorship and multimedia advertising campaign around the Good Stuff model, and also is believed to be an active supporter of Shakira’s initiatives for her Barefoot Foundation .

SEAT Ibiza FR Diesel to Debut in UK

Published on Jan 21st, 2010, No Comments

SEAT Ibiza FR Diesel TDI 1

SEAT was tremendously successful with its Leon FR TDI and that has motivated the company to announce the Ibiza FR Diesel for the UK market — as it aims to delve deeper on the success of its hatchback sales numbers. FR models are the perfect combination between “performance and outstanding economy” and that is what the SEAT Ibiza FR TDI will strive to deliver. The four wheeler will be offered in three and five door models and will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0L commonrail turbodiesel engine capable of churning 143 hp at 320Nm of torque. The engine will allow the three door variant to pelt from 0 to 62 mph in 8.2 seconds (8.3 for the 5-door) with an overall top speed of 130mph (129 for the 5-door). The economy numbers are also impressive at 62.7mpg on a combined cycle and the CO2 emissions will be 119g/km. Going on sale in March, the SEAT Ibiza FR Diesel will cost £16,465.

Seat Ibiza Bocanegra Production Version Ready

Published on May 9th, 2009, 1 Comment

No one expected it. At this year’s Auto Salon in Barcelona, SEAT managed to turn heads with their new Seat Ibiza Bocanegra. I mean with the production version of their Ibiza Bocanegra (“black mouth”). A concept that got the press attention last year in Geneva, the Spanish automaker turned it into the real deal.

With a front fascia, bumper, headlights, and honeycomb mesh grille all covered with a black “finish”, Ibiza Bocanegra is being powered by a 1.4-liter TSI enginethat can be customized to output either 150 hp or 180 hp. And because the engine is quite small (though the output is great), the hatchback is expected to perform really well in terms of fuel efficiency. Running on 17-inch Sira alloys, with a new darkened sunroof and a mesh side grids and a spoiler in the back, that’s one of the most interesting SEATs in a long time.

One that we’d most likely love to get behind the wheel. [via ]

SEAT Ibiza ECOMOTIVE Does 2.9l/100km

Published on May 7th, 2009, No Comments

Environmentally conscious drivers are starting to demand better and more fuel efficient cars. With that in mind the Spanish folks from Seat have just announced that their Ibiza ECOMOTIVE managed to set a world record for fuel efficiency and has the ability to drive over 1,500 km on a single tank of gas. A great example of efficiency and technologically advanced capabilities, the best part is that it’s not even considered a hybrid and it goes for a consumption rate of 2.9 liters per 100km. Seat said that “optimized streamlining, weight reduction and modifications to the 80 hp 1.4 TDI” (quite an engine) was needed in getting those numbers.

SEAT Ibiza ST Slated for Release Next Year

Published on Mar 21st, 2009, 3 Comments

The future for SEAT and what the firm is likely to dish out in the coming years has been what company’s Erich Schmitt has been talking about. Apparently high on their agenda— launching the SEAT Ibiza ST (Sports Tourer), the rumored car has been finally confirmed officially. Expected to be available somewhere next year, it is safe to assume that the new Ibiza ST is a far more luxurious, spacious and powerful version of the base model that is now on offer. Rumors have it that under the hood there’s a VW 1.4 liter TFSI, twin-turbocharged engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, that develops 160 hp. Looks pretty awesome, isn’t it? [ & ]

SEAT Ibiza ecoMOTIVE

Published on Oct 3rd, 2008, 3 Comments

Apparently 2008 has been the year of the eco-friendly cars and we already know what that means: cars that won’t get you bankrupt with the amount of fuel they “eat” when you push the pedal. At the Paris Motor Show this year, Seat introduced their new Ibiza Ecomotive that manages to get a 76.3 mpg from a 1.4 TDI engine that sports 80 hp. And the CO2 emissions are down at 98 g/km which is the lowest in its segment.

How they managed to do that? It’s the new engine software they’ve been working on, the low rolling resistance tires and the revised ratios. Plus some minor design modifications to make it more aerodynamic-friendly. It will be first released in the UK and will come in both the five door and the SportCoupe.

Seat Bocanegra Will Be Produced

Seat Bocanegra

Good news for Sear fans. The Seat Bocanegra which was a concept during the Auto Show in Geneva and was supposed to give us hints on how the new Ibiza is going to look, it’s actually going to be produced. Our friends from found out the new 3dr SuperMini has been confirmed for production.

Seat Bocanegra Cupra

“When we showed the finished concept to our president Eric Schmitt, he said ‘I want one!’. And after the positive Geneva reception, there was no way we couldn’t put the Bocanegra into production” said Luc Donckerwolke, design director for SEAT.

With such a design many of you may neglect that it’s going to run with the 1.4-liter TSI twin turbo engine and a seven-speed semi-automatic DSG gearbox. It should output 180 hp.

Do you like it ?

Seat Bocanegra Concept

Seat Bocanegra Concept

The only way Seat managed to get the attention this year during the Auto Show in Geneva, was obviously their Seat Bocanegra Concept, which is saying a lot about the new Ibiza announced for the Auto Show in Madrid and the new Seat saloon we’ll be seeing next year. In Spanish, Bocanegra means “Black Mouth” and I guess the large front with LED lights and the aggressiveness are saying a lot about it.

“The SEAT SportCoupé ´Bocanegra´ is a sporty, design oriented prototype, with which we want our brand´s position to stand out. At the same time, the ´Bocanegra´ is an outlook of the future design language of SEAT” said  Erich Schmitt.

It does look powerful, but I am a little disappointed to see that it’s going to be powered by a 1.4L twin turbo TSI engine and has a seven speed DSG transmission. At least it does come with 19-inch alloy wheels and Seat’s Agile Chassis for a sportier drive. At last it’s rumored to come in FR-style with a 1.4L turbo (150hp) and a Cupra  version with a 1.8L turbo. Sounds about right.
