New Ford Focus RS Could Feature Hybrid Drivetrain

Published by on Jul 28th, 2010, No Comments

Ford has reportedly been planning to incorporate a hybrid drive set-up in its next-generation Ford Focus RS and will also attempt to convert the vehicle into an all-wheel drive sports hatch.

While the planned hybrid drive on the next Focus RS will resemble the drive technology present on the Peugeot Hybrid 4, it will consist of an Ecoboost unit of 2.0 litre capacity connected to a electric motor fitted on the rear axle of the vehicle.

Both the RS and ST variants of the car will have an engine power of 250 bhp, butt he addition of the electric motor on the RS will increase the total power of the vehicle to 300 bhp. The new drivetrain will also increase the fuel-efficiency of the new Focus RS as compared to existing Focus RS models.

Ford could provide further details about the vehicle during the Paris Auto Show due to be held in October, where the company will also put its Focus ST on display for the first time.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS

For those who think the Porsche 911 GT2 is not badass enough, we have news for you, the RS version just made an early appearance at a dealer event. Guilty for grabbing a few pictures with the 911 GT2 RS are the folks from Autoblog and TeamScoop, who mentioned the fact that, indeed, the new model will be a true racer that brags to sweep away even the best track times. Word is that the Porsche 911 GT2 RS will feature a roll cage for more protection, an active suspension and adjustable aerodynamics. The most interesting part is that under the hood there’s a little monster that churns 550 hp (or 620hp according to TeamSpeed), that helps the four-wheeler go naught to 100km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds. Price wise, we’re looking at a highly expensive vehicle — it will cost some $320,000 and only 300 units will ever be built. [via ]

Ford Focus RS Mcchip 1

So you got your hands on a Focus RS but feel like your little beast is capable of more, how about getting some help from the crazy German tuners from Mcchip who have recently taken the RS to the highest levels? The stock version already churns in a good 224kW (305hp) and 440Nm of torque, but the Mcchip Focus RS brings two tuning levels to choose from. First one is a 254kW (345hp) version with 520Nm of torque and a top speed of 271km/h for €799, while Power Stage 2 goes even more extreme 295kW (401hp), maximum torque of 612Nm and a top speed of 278km/h if you can afford some €4,499.

2009 Renault Megane RS

Published by on Mar 5th, 2009, 14 Comments

Trying to be ahead of any other hatches in the European market is no easy task, but Renault seems to have the right ingredients for an amazing car. Just a few days ago in Geneva, the latest Renault Megane RS has been unveiled to the public and everyone seemed to love it. Inspired by the Trophy racer Megane, the new RS is definitely meaner and faster. With an agressive front grille splitter and big arches, a center-exit exhaust within the diffuser, bulging side sills and some intriguing  two-tone alloys, you’ll have to admit that even if it’s a French car … it’s a damn good looking one.

But my bet is that you’d like to know what makes that kitty roar. Well there’s a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter 16-valve turbo engine under the hood, a sharper chassis available in “Sport” and “Cup”,  fully defeatable stability control and an improved steering, it’s quite a contender to Ford’s Focus RS. We’re definitely sold on the new design. A hot looking racer … [via ]
