The modified concept of the Defender model will be revealed by Land Rover at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Although Land Rover relies mostly on its luxury vehicles, this brand has helped the company to retain market share after World War II and the Tata Group India, who owns Land Rover,  insist that an upgrade is crucial.

Hyundai’s Upcoming Hatchback Spy Pictures Out In The Open

Images of the Hyundai hatchback being readied for a 2012 debut have been found in the open. Obviously clicked on the sly, the pictures reveal the car to be much smaller than the Accent. We get to know that the Korean car maker is making the new hatchback primarily for the South African market and will be rolled out of its assembly line at Piracicaba in Brazil.

The HB could come in two variants – one a sedan and the other a compact SUV. Expected to be pitted against Volkswagen Gol and the Honda Fit, Hyundai might look at producing around 100,000 units a year. To arrive sporting two flex-fuel variants – 1.0 liter and a 1.6 liter engine – the hatchback would have design lines similar to the ix-Metro concept. If you would remember, Hyundai had showcased the ix-Metro concept at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Meanwhile, sources tell us that the 1.0 liter version will come with unpainted door handles and mirrors.

2012 BMW 3-Series F 30 Spied in the Cold

It seems BMW is out there in the cold with all its latest bimmer model from the M3 and M5 to the latest catch, the 2012 BMW 3-Series F30. Spy photographers caught a glimpse of the 2012 model in the northern part of Scandinavia at a BMW facility close to a frozen lake.

BMW has been testing the compact commuter in the cold for more than a month and spy shots have poured in relentlessly. The latest set of images reveals the LEDs on the rear and a roofline which meets the backend at a steeper angle than the present generation model. The elongated wheelbase and a bigger body talks though remain a speculation and images do not confirm the changes apparently. The engine speculations for the 2012 BMW 3-Series F30 include a petrol-powered four-cylinder turbo and a hybrid unit. There may also be a smaller twin-turbo six-cylinder power unit I the works for the best selling bimmer. [via ]

Land Rover LRX Prototype Spied

Land Rover LRX is the next big thing as far as expanding the Land Rover lineage goes and the LRX has already started gaining popularity with its winter testing spy shots from the Scandinavia surfacing on the web. The heavily clad LRX mule reveals a shortened wheelbase compared to the LR2 which is why the rear end has been shortened.

The mule cased in an LR2 shell reveals nothing more but it is already known that the LRX category will help define a new segment for Land Rover. Some of the signature Range Rover design elements such as the clamshell bonnet and the floating roof will also grace the LRX model as per the company sources. The production ready model of the car will arrive later this year and the engine choice most likely will include a 2.2L turbodiesel capable of producing 160hp at 400Nm of torque and a 3.2L inline six petrol option that will hit the 230hp mark at 317Nm of torque.
