2011 Hybrid Porsche Cayenne Going to Geneva

Published by on Jan 11th, 2010, No Comments

The Brand new 2011 Porsche Cayenne will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show as a hybrid all-wheel drive. Porsche’s role with its new parent Volkswagen is going to be tested at the SUV category, what matters most is the Cayenne Hybrid will travel around 34.5 miles-per-gallon, which easily makes it the most efficient Porsche vehicle as per current production. Moreover the CO2 emissions is much below 200 grams-per-kilometer.

Further, the Cayenne Hybrid will be available in four engine choices. A 3.6-liter V6 generating 300 hp, a 4.8-liter V8 producing 400 hp, and a 500-horsepower turbocharged 4.8-liter model used on the Cayenne Turbo. Few markets will also get a 240-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 sourced from Volkswagen. The  newPorsche Cayenne will also get a brand new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Irrespective of purchasing a hybrid model or a conventional one, each Cayenne will be fitted with stop/start and brake energy recovery systems. Other features promised are adjustable back rests in the new sliding rear bench. More leg room because of the longer wheel base. The 2011 Porsche Cayenne is all set to roll out in March. [via ]

Porsche Cayenne by Status Design for the Russian Gangstas?

porsche cayenne by status design 1 Porsche Cayenne by Status Design for the Russian Gangstas?

A Russian design studio in Moscow has some ideas for the Porsche Cayenne. Status Design is calling the design the ‘body-whale’ kit. And if you ask me, ‘it don’t look like no whale.’ Maybe a stingray. Status Design most likely wants us to think marine-animal as in sleekness and power, but a whale? The front is not unlike the Peugeot with its four-tiered grille or am I not seeing the strings to open and close that thing. The kit is made out of high-quality plastic and carbon.

And although the folks in Russia are ingenious, resilient and resourceful, coming up with good names to give to their designs, it’s not their best though.

porsche cayenne s hybrid 2 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid Announced for 2010

Those greenies that love a powerful ride that won’t harm the environment should definitely be happy to know that the new Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid is slated to be produced starting from 2010. And when we say it’s powerful, we’re not lying. Thanks to a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine (borrowed from Audi) that sports 333hp and 324 ft-lb of torque, it ges naught to 100km/h in less than 7 seconds. As for its hybrid counterpart that doubles as alternator (with a 38 kW NiMH battery) is a three-phase synchronous electric motor that outputs 52 hp and 221 ft-lb of torque. No real specs on that green behemoth but rumors have it that it will probably eat less than nine litres of fuel per 100 km (26 mpg).

Porsche Cayenne with diesel engine

diesel porsche cayenne Porsche Cayenne with diesel engine

Breaking news people. We’ve just heard from some of our that Porsche’s big SUV, the Cayenne may be testing diesel engines. A photographer managed to spy some interesting pictures of a Cayenne that was filled from the diesel pump, unlike the petrol that we’ve been used to. The next thing that tricks our creativity is that it had different exhaust pipes.

Here is what the guy said:

“I was just passing a petrol station in northern Sweden when I noticed four Porsche Cayennes standing there at a petrol station. There is nothing strange about this situation, but this time it was something that caught my eye. One of the Cayennes was driving off the diesel pump.

As all the cars left the petrol station I followed them for a while, and they stopped outside a restaurant. I noticed that one of the Cayenne’s exhaust pipes were quite different. Not the usual big twin pipes, but instead a single smaller pipe on each side, and that was the Cayenne driving off the diesel pump. With no signs inside the car I decided to wait for them to finish their dinner and listen to the engine as they turned on the engine and drove off. And as suspected, I was right, that was really a diesel powered Porsche – no doubt about that.”

It looks like Porsche is ready to give us the long waited diesel Cayenne sooner than we thought. What do you guys think?

Gemballa Tornado GTR700 Cayenne : Run for your life !

Not sure if this should be in the 4 x 4, not even in the SUV category, but since we don’t have a “monster” category to nail it here it goes. Gemballa went mad and decided to muscle up a new Porsche Cayenne after showing us how a Carrera GT should look like. This is not funny because this beast, dubbed Gemballa Tornado GTR700 Cayenne, is capable of developing about 700 hp from an extremely modified twin-turbo V8 engine.

Add the looks, the severely dropped ride height and the strengthened suspension, the fact that it might come with a 2WD conversion and you got yourself a pretty fast bull. Oh and I mentioned looks. It has a carbon fiber hood insert, new vents and some good looking tail lights.

So how do you like it?

Rinspeed X-Treme Porsche Cayenne Announced

With a new facelifted model 957 Cayenne, Porsche was close to perfection, until the Swiss guys from Rinspeed came with a few “additions”. Apparently the new Rinspeed X-Treme Porsche Cayenne comes with a higher output 600hp motor engine, fins and splitters on those larger front air intakes, 35mm lower thanks to the modified air suspension, all these making it look very “mean”.

With a gapping front, bigger wheel arches and using the company’s sporty quad chrome exhaust, the new Rinspeed X-Treme Cayenne is a great solution if you need both safety and performances. Rinspeed, didn’t mention how they managed to get 600hp, but my thought is that it has something to do with the injection system.

Add to all these the fact that it has large 23-inch wheels with 315/25/R23 tires that can fly you up to 300km/h and I’m drooling already to take it for a test drive.
