The car will be the last in the line of the CD segment range for the current year.

Add-ons would include new front bumpers that sport LED daytime running lights. The move is part of adhering to the new EU norm that makes DRLs mandatory. The rear lamps are also being redesigned with LEDs. A high-performing 240PS version of the two-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine, would come with the new updated Mondeo. This will be in addition to the 203PS version launched earlier this year. A variant will sport an updated 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine with power up 12 per cent to 200 PS. Ford Europe is also revamping the interior with new flow-through centre console, new door trims and a new central overhead console that comes with ambient lighting. A six-speed PowerShift double wet-clutch transmission system would be a standard feature.

Other aspects about the updated Mondeo will include a smart regenerative charging, eco mode and new active grille shutter system. Besides, an electronically controlled device that regulates the airflow through the radiator and engine box so that it cuts down on the aerodynamic drag and boosts fuel efficiency would be part of the package.

Around for more than 17 years, Ford Mondeo is the company’s top-rated family car and plans to be for the future, too, as spy photographers have managed to click a few images of the facelifted 2011 Mondeo during its cold weather testing along the European route E45. Inspired by the Kinetic Design Language, the new model will feature a new front bumper, LEDs on the front and the rear, an all-new grille, new side mirrors and LED clusters. Experts also anticipate a different rear bumper and a reworked interior. The images also reveal that the car will feature a TDCi engine which may probably be the 200hp 2.0L Ecoboost mated to a six-speed dual clutch transmission or the 2.0-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel. A future model may also include a 4 cylinder 1.6L Ecoboost capable of churning 180hp. [via ]

Tuned Ford Mondeo, by Rieger

For all those that have a Ford Mondeo and are looking for ways to tune it up, the German tuning house Rieger, announced a subtle styling package. Too bad it’s just for the wagon version of the car, but let’s see what’s new with their tuning package because I can’t see many modifications.

So it includes a front lip spoiler, side skirts with cutout shaft and rear bumper fascia, all in either ABS plastic or carbon fiber. There’s also a new rear bumper fascia (three versions depending on the exhaust type), an upgrade to the suspension (coilover suspension by KW) and a chip tuning upgrade from SKN Technology.

Again, I don’t think there’s anything special with this one, except for the tailpipes: dual pipes on He left or right, single sport pipe or single downward curved pipe. I don’t know the price, but I’ll be honest, I don’t think it’s worth it. – via
