Euro Honda Legend Facelift

Published by on Sep 3rd, 2008, 2 Comments

I’m pretty sure you remember what we called the Acura RL, right? Well that’s going to be the 2009 Euro Honda Legend, and will debut asap at the Moscow motor show.

There are slight modifications between the two of those, like the big shiny grille, revised lights, bonnet, front fenders, boot lid, bumpers and some 18-inch wheels, which to be honest are not my type and probably not yours either. As for what’s under the hood, there aren’t many changes but a VTEC 3.7L V6 engine (from 3.5L) that outputs 300hp (220 kW) and a revised automatic gearbox with faster shift times and more responsive paddle-shift.

Can you imagine that this beautiful whale goes 0 to 100km/h in just 7.1 seconds? It really does.

2009 Honda Civic Gets Light Facelift

Published by on Aug 18th, 2008, 1 Comment

Though Honda hasn’t made any official releases we found out that they already sent brochures with the 2009 facelifted Civic, to their dealers worldwide. And what happens when they do that? Some car-fans out there put their scanners on use and leak the pictures on the web. So what you get for the new Civic in 2009 is the lower fascia which are now more aggressive with a three-opening treatment that moves the foglamps even lower. The update is also going to include redesigned reverse lights and some new wheels. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement before the final opinion. So far so good.

Honday Clarity – Hydrogen Fueled Car Becomes Reality

Published by on Jun 23rd, 2008, 2 Comments

If you are the rich treehugging type, read Hollywood celebrity, there’s a new car, the Honda Clarity. For about $600/month lease, the zero emission car will be available in southern California, which surprisingly not is home to most Hollywood celebs. Honda is expected to make from a few dozen to 200 of the vehicles available. Jamie Lee Curtis, Laura Harris (Laura who?) and filmmakers Christopher Guest and Ron Yerxa are among the first customers.

Honda says the Clarity is times more efficient than a gas-electric hybrid and three times more efficient than a standard gas guzzler.  The biggest challenge is not the $600/month lease which includes maintenance and collision insurance, it’s where to fill the thing up. There are stations in Torrance, Santa Monica and Irvine, CA. These locations helped Honda decide among the 50,000 applications who would get the car.

Honda has plans to launch a gas-electric version of the Clarity as well as hybrid versions of the Civic, CR-Z and Fit compace. Honda, like another Japanese car maker, Toyota, is decidedly a leader in ‘green cars.’

The new Honda Accord

Published by on Jun 19th, 2008, 2 Comments

It might not look like the Accord has changed much but it is wider as well as lower and significantly stiffer for optimum chassis dynamics due to its use of ultra high-tensile steel in its body construction. It possesses a bold front facade with its prominent ‘H’ logo on the grille,a longer, taller bonnet, and aggressively flared fenders.

The new Accord has been made available in South Africa with a 2litre i-vtec petrol engine producing 154bhp and the 2.4litre i-vtec delivering 197bhp at 7000rpm. According to Honda SA, “The six-speed manual version accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 9,3 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 215 km/h.” Transmission choices include quick-shifting five-speed automatic and a six speed manual gearbox with F1-style shift paddles.

Will Stevens Honda F1

No Formula One race the weekend that just passed but we still have some news. Honda Racing F1 Team decided to sign a contract with Will Stevens, a 16 year old, just like McLaren did years ago with Lewis Hamilton. The guy is not even out of high school but he has a signed piece of paper with Ross Brawn and Nick Fry’s signatures, that will probably put him in the big league of F1 racing in the next few years.

Is it just me or it’s becoming a trend to recruit young fellas with badass driving instincts? Could this be the winning recipe.

Will Stevens, has the FIA-CIK KF2 European and Asia-Pacific, International Open Masters KF2, WSK Junior ICA and MSA British Junior titles to his name and five national championships. When did he got the time?

43,000 Acuras with power steering hose problems, recalled by Honda

Honda Acura RL 2005

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a recall has been issued by Honda for approximately 43,000 Acura RL sedan, 2005-2008 models, because of the high temperatures created by the V6 engine that affects the power steering hose and could lead to fluid leaks onto th catalytic converter. These things could cause fire and I am sure you wouldn’t want something like that to happen.

Though nothing bad happened so far, Honda is issuing a recall so you’d better go ask your local dealer if they know anything or call Honda directly before they send it to your mailbox.

Honda's next-gen Pilot SUV Goes to Detroit

Published by on Dec 12th, 2007, No Comments

A press release just came in today from Honda, that announced they will be showing off the next generation of the Pilot SUV in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Though I like the sporty-rugged looks that makes it very strong I can’t help noticing but isn’t it looking like a Jeep?
Honda's next-gen Pilot SUV Goes to Detroit

Honda’s Pilot features the same eight seats and medium off-road capabilities, should bring advanced technologies for safety, fuel efficient engines and an interior that may get you sleep inside for a night or two. I am sure it won’t wrack its reputation of a midsize SUV that won the “5best truck” award by “Car and Driver” magazine for six years in a roll.

I would be much more comfortable to have a live version the new Honda Pilot, but we’ll have to settle with the prototype above.

Published by on Nov 21st, 2007, 2 Comments

Japanese Car of the Year

The Honda Fit was chosen by a 60 member panel, that was comprised mostly of automotive journalists, as Japan’s Car of the Year. Unavailable in the U.S at this point, the Fit is a hot item in Japan with expectations of 12,000 units per month in initial sales and in the first 2-weeks of availability sales of over 20,000 cars.

Boasting a new larger size and sleeker look, the second generation subcompact Fit is expected to garner more U.S. interest when it becomes available in the U.S next year. Honda Fit has a well-matched five-speed transmission with strong first and second gears. It has a 1.5 liter engine with 109 horsepower, 1-5 pound-feet of torque and does 0 – 60 mph in 9.8 seconds. It is available in FWD as a 5-passenger 4-door hatchback.

The EPA city/highway fuel economy for this little jewel is 31/37 mpg and while it might not be the car you will ever drive, for the price its a good value automobile.

Base Price: $14,445 – $15,765
