Morgan AeroMax, Retro but Modern

Morgan AeroMax Coupe

Morgan AeroMax coupe, was first presented in 2006 during the International Motor Show in Geneva as a custom built car but today I’ve heard that they are going to produce 100 units. Our friends from say that this is a love-it or hate-it design, but I have to disagree. How can you not love it?

Under the all-aluminum hood, is a 4.8 liter V8 engine from BMW that develops a stunning 367 bhp, does 0 – 100kmh in just 4.2 seconds and tops at 170 mph. This is supposed to be the first Morgan ever to feature an automatic transmission, a six-speed ZF gearbox.

When it comes to the exterior design I don’t think you need any comments, right? I think that’s the car of the week.

Honda S2000 Type S – Tokyo auto show

Honda has revealed the look of its Japan-spec S2000 Type S ahead of the car’s local launch at tomorrow’s Tokyo Motor Show. The car is essentially the same package as the U.S. delivered S2000 CR but differs by the inclusion of the standard folding roof instead of the aluminum hardtop as well as a new rear wing diffuser.

The factory-tuned roadster also features firmer suspension, increased body and chassis rigidity, overall weight reduction plus a unique aerodynamic package. The car is described by its developers as the “closest thing you can get to a Honda-built racecar with license plate holders and a horn,” signifying the desire of its target market of weekend club racers.

The Japanese version comes with the same high-revving four cylinder engine as U.S. spec models, including an identical 237hp and 220Nm of torque output. Complimenting the engine’s output characteristics is a compact, longitudinally-mounted, close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox and a torque-sensing limited slip differential.

For BMW buyers who wish to soak in as much sun as possible this summer without losing the marque’s hallmark performance and handling, the company has an offering to fit the bill to a tee. The German auto maker is no stranger to engineering convertible cars of the highest quality, and after such icons as the 330Ci Cabriolet and the Z4, one might have wondered how such winning packages could be improved upon. However, in BMW AG’s typical perfectionist tradition, they have once again raised the bar with an extremely well engineered and desirable addition; the 335Ci Cabriolet. (more…)

Mercedes-Benz tuning specialists Carlsson have joined forces with international leather-lifestyle brand Etienne Aigner to develop the Carlsson Aigner CK65 Eau Rouge model. Made in an exclusive small series, the luxury coupe based on the Mercedes-Benz CL produces over 700 bhp (522 kw) and 1,100 Nm after being reworked by Carlsson.

Technical masterpiece

The engine conversion by Carlsson includes a special electronic control unit with special maps for injection and ignition. On the intake side, sports air filters ensure optimum aspiration. On the outlet side, a stainless-steel sports exhaust system with high-performance metal catalytic converters and sports silencers cut back-pressure to a minimum. Another measure to boost engine performance is improved intercooling, which reduces charge-air temperature. Thus, the V12 is always raring to go and the driver can rely on having more than adequate power on hand regardless of the situation. (more…)
