BMW M Concept to rival Audi R8

Published by on Jun 17th, 2009, 4 Comments

Please, please don’t tell my wife about the new BMW M concept.  She’ll stop feeding the baby and trade in her current Beamer for this new rival to the Audi R8.

Artist Idreis Noah, formerly of the GM Holden Australia design team has come up with a design of his own for the BMW M. And it’s a beaut! Just add water to the Audi R8 he says. The artists said details were “inspired by what’s called in surfing terms ‘a Barrel or Tube’. It’s where the wave is hollow when it breaks.”

Rushing water rolls over the wheels, cues on the door and flows into the side air intakes which sit on the protruding rear wheelbase. Consistent with BMW’s design paradigm the new model must be “Aggressive, Sleek, Agile and totally different from anything on the road today.” And give it a 5.0 liter V10 to boot and you are good to go.

Hamann 2009 BMW 7 Series

Published by on May 19th, 2009, No Comments

Tuners worldwide seem to be interested in getting beefed up BMWs on the market; and we can only be happy about it. German “tweakers” from HAMANN showed off the 2009 BMW 7 Series from their own perspective. Part of an aerodynamic kit, there’s a new front skirt with integrated LED daytime running lights, a roof spoiler and a rear spoiler for more aggressivity. Also on offer there’s a new set of four sporty tailpipes and a range of wheels that are supposed to make it stylish. Large car that tries to prove its performance, but do you like it?

BMW M3 Darth Maul by MWDesign

Published by on May 18th, 2009, No Comments

Probably inspired from Star Wars (the name that is) Canadian tuners from MWDesign came up with a modified BMW M3 Coupe (E92). All about aesthetics, the “Darth Maul” BMW M3 is covered with a stylish Jerez Black paint and features an Amuse Ericsson front bumper with custom orange highlights that grab attention. Fitted to the aggressive bodywork there are carbon fiber side vents, carbon fiber side mirrors, a rear diffuser and glossy black 20-inch wheels. With power pumped from a 4.0-litre V8 engine that outputs 420 hp, that’s one hell of a BMW. Don’t you think? [via ]

The 2011 BMW 6-Series Could Look Like This

Published by on May 13th, 2009, 2 Comments

This 2011 BMW 6-series is only a rendered speculation, but I’ve been told that if you want something hard enough it will happen. So let’s make it clear. WE WANT IT! Work of Romanian designer Silviu Draganescu, that’s how the new BMW 6-series should look if you were to consider that it has to be aggressive and to borrow some details from the CS Concept that we’ve been in love with for some time now. A great design exercise we wouldn’t mind if the 6-series would look like this. It has some Maserati inspiration in there … don’t you think? [via ]

G-Power M6 Hurricane CS is not only one of the best looking BMW out there, but also the world fastest BMW Coupe. Based on an M6 and with a little help from German tuners from G-Power, this beautiful blue beast is capable of reaching a top speed of 370 km/h (or at least that’s what the company says). Thanks to a twin-supercharged V10 SK III RS engine that outputs 750 hp and 800 Nm of torque at about 5,000 rpm, it has a new carbon fibre wide-bodykit, a new front apron, vented bonnet, rockers, wheel arches, diffuser, rear apron, and a rear wing for better road grip. And for those wondering how much you it will cost, it’s only €360,000. [via ]

Fastest Man in the World, Crashes His BMW M3 in Jamaica

Published by on May 4th, 2009, No Comments

Usain Bolt is the Olympic Champion and the fastest man on earth. Not with a car though. World 100m and 200m record holder, Usain was “running” his 309kW (420hp) BMW M3 Coupe (given by his sponsor, Puma) on Wednesday afternoon, and because of a wet road surface, his M3 skidded off the road. He got minor injuries to the ball of his feet from thorns, but he walked on right after. Not the same could be said about the car though, which had the front tyres were punctured, the front left wheel almost torn off, a destroyed windscreen and a dislodged rear window. The 22-year old sprinter said “Me good man. Me all right, a just few cuts man, me all right”. So it’s good that only the car got wrecked in here … [via ]

BMW Z2 Concept to Be Shown Off in Frankfurt This Year

Published by on Apr 30th, 2009, No Comments

Rumors have it that the Germans from BMW are working their butts out to bring a new concept at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. And it’s not just any concept. It’s a BMW Z2 roadster that will be built on the same platform with the new 1-series with lightweight materials (should weigh less than 1,000 kg) and technology that should offer both power and fuel efficiency. Suposedly sent forward by MINI’s full range of 1.6-liter engines and a high-speced new twin-turbo 2.0-liter that outputs 250 hp, the new BMW Z2 is expected to cost you a good $30,000 when it’s going to be available in 2013. Not bad, eh? [via ]

New BMW X1 Spied at a Photo Session

Published by on Apr 29th, 2009, No Comments

Debuted last year at the Paris Motor show, the new BMW X1 has been caught completely undisguised during a photo shooting these days. With a slightly reworked grille and some additional chrome here and there, the 2010 BMW X1 is going to feature a variety of naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines that will obviously know a bit about performance and technology. As for the interior, it looks roomier, because the X1 is expected to ride on a E90 3-Series platform. Priced at some £20,000, expect it to go on sale starting this fall. [via ]
