Audi R8 5.2 V10 Spyder snapped without side blades

Published by on Jul 17th, 2009, 1 Comment

It seems that Audi has finally decided to bid adieu to the trademark side blades as the R8 5.2L V10 Sypder was snapped ‘secretly’ without those blades on view. The 5.2L V10 Motor under the rear deck is capable of churning 525 HP but, this might be there only for the launch as the 4.2L V8 will hit the production floor. This Teutonic Ragtop will have performance figures similar o those of The R8 Coupe with a slightly lowered top speed which is understandable. It was being hoped that the car would be launched yesterday during Audi’s Centennial celebration but now the debut is slated for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. [via ]

435hp Audi S4 by ABT

Published by on Jul 17th, 2009, 1 Comment

The Audi S4 yields enough power with its 3.0 liter TFSI V6 engine but the German tuner Abt Sportsline is not utterly convinced. To satiate itself, the tuner has introduced a stunning kit that takes the numbers to 435hp with 520 Nm of torque which are up from the 333 hp and 440 Nm of the untouched engine. The consequences are there for all to see as the ‘scorcher’ clocks 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, bettering the 5.1 of the silent motor. The top speed also feels the ‘overhang’ at 175mph but the electronic meter integration maintain it at 155mph. There are no qualms about its performance with the 7-speed DSG gearbox as the combination gels well to ensure a thrilling ride.

2010 Audi A5 Sportback Released

Published by on Jul 16th, 2009, 1 Comment

The 2010 Audi A5, the trendy Sportback based on the curvaceous A5 Coupe and Cabrio has finally been announced with a full set of details but sadly, this car will not make it to the American shores. A derivative of the mid-size, five-door liftback, it comes with an extra set of doors and tailgate to combine functionality with form. Come September, the European buyers will get to choose from a set of six different engines, three each for gas and diesel units. The first one hails from the A4 territory and with a 2.0-liter capacity it can either churn 180 or 211 horsepower depending on what you buy, plus, there is also a 3.2-liter V6 option available.

The ones who prefer diesel would get 2.0-liter inline-four, 2.7-liter V6 and 3.0-liter V6 motors under the hood. The 170 horsepower rendering 2.0-liter TDI is rated at 45.2 mpg (US) on the EU combined cycle. All the engines firing on four cylinders will get automatic stop-start systems and the flagship models for both gasoline and diesel will run on the four-wheel Quattro drive. Three additional engines will be added to the lineage in 2010.

Audi A7 Sportback Should See Daylight in 2010

Audi A7 Sportback Concept

Now that the new Audi A7 Sportback have failed the June 2009 deadline, Germans from Audi have decided that 2010 would be a much better year and postponed the new A7 Sportback release date. Rumored to hit the showroom floors at the end of 2010, the car will share some design elements with the new A5 Sportback but is obviously positioned higher than that.

Shaped like a coupe with a narrow window line and a coupe-like roof line, the A7 Sportback is unlike other sportcars as it features 7 (seven) doors. With powerful engines that include a 3.0-litre V6 used in the A6 and the S4/S5, as well as V8s, the new A7 Sportback is quite a competitor for high rollers like Mercedes-Benz CLS, the Porsche Panamera and the Aston Martin Rapide. Audi Canada Wants to be Funny?

Published by on May 11th, 2009, 2 Comments

Audi Canada is trying to mock other SUV brands with their new Q5. It’s true that the Q5 is the perfect mixture of utility vehicle and performances, but apparently the German automaker thinks that if it’s not an Audi SUV, it’s just a big box. I’m not buying into their jokes and I don’t know about you, but I would have left the British do the advert instead of the Canadians. Looks cheap and doesn’t make the point as it should … Check the videos out, and let us know! [Thanks David]

Published by on May 7th, 2009, No Comments

The newest Audi R8-based PPI Razor GTR was revealed recently with a jaw-dropping 580 horsepower coming from a stock 4.2-liter V8. But not just any stock engine… This one features a specially engineered supercharger and a ram-charged sport air filter system, along with a high performance stainless steel exhaust. With the main main focus on optimizing the power-to-weight ratio, this R8 just lost 521 lbs which helped it increase torque to 600Nm and to sprint 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 towards a max speed of 332 km/h. A mind blowing beast, that will probably require you to break a bank for the cash … but we LOVE it! [via ]

Baby Audi E1, the ultra-efficient city car

Published by on Apr 30th, 2009, No Comments

There’s been a lot of rumors going on these days, some more appealing than others. But I thought that another one, wouldn’t hurt. Apparently a potential new Audi model is being taken in consideration these days. It’s an Audi E1 that will feature the typical luxury inclusions we’ve been used with. Sharing a platform with VW Up, the Baby E1 is supposed to be the ultimate ultra-efficient city car. Running on supposedly 600cc two-cylinder turbos, and a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engines, the new Audi E1 will be built in Slovakia at VW’s plant. With prices expected to go North of €13,000, the car is expected to hit floors in 2011 when the company is also expected to introduce a hybrid powered by Lithium-polymer batteries. That’s great news, no? [via ]
