BMW signs off Mommy-Mover

Published by on Jun 1st, 2007, 3 Comments

After many years of consideration and thought, BMW has finally entered the market controlled by the likes of the Renault Scenic and Chrysler Grand Voyager. They are going to launch a mommy mover known as a Cross Over / Utility vehicle.

The idea has been around for a while and it is a feasible area of the market to exploit so there is no reason why BMW shouldnt. It will be known as the F3 and should reach showrooms by 2010 according to BMW sources. It will have the usual line up of BMW engines like the 2.0L petrol and 3.0L diesel and there is a possibility of the 3.0L Twin Turbo being shoved in. As in true Cross Over / Utility style, the car will feature seven seats and the features from the X3.

Personally I think it is a horrendous design and is further proof that making money is more important than making cars.

The Audi TT clubsport quattro

tt audi concept

Every Audi TT is noted for its clear lines, unmistakable dynamism and the driving characteristics of a sports car. Audi now presents the TT in its most purist form: the clubsport quattro study.

The Audi TT clubsport quattro study reduces the TT Roadster to a pure driving machine. A powerful engine, state-of-the-art technology and numerous traits borrowed from the world of motorsport are the dominant features of the TT clubsport quattro.

The goal that the development engineers set themselves for this vehicle study was to achive purism at a premium level. No hood, no A-post instead, a wraparound windscreen kept extremely low which deliberately evokes images of a speedster. The flat, slightly tinted window strip surrounds the cockpit. The panoramic windscreen and the two humps located behind the interior in place of the hood compartment are reminiscent of a racing car. The rollover bars familiar from the TT Roadster are kept flatter and are the same height as the sports bucket seats. (more…)

The Mercedes SL Class continues its success story in a revised edition. As a matter of course, the engineers and designers at KICHERER have pulled out all the stops in order to enhance the Roadster’s exclusiveness and sportiness.

Thanks to the KICHERER K60 Biturbo 12-cylinder engine fitted with 605hp/445kW, the SL 600 becomes one of the most powerful Roadsters around the globe. 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and 200 km/h after 14.2 seconds are values speaking for themselves, just like the electronically limited peak speed of 300 km/h. lambo alar

Lamborghini fans could face some indecision over whether or not the company’s latest offering honors their tradition of good-looking cars. The Italian sports car maker is famous for producing vehicles that define beauty and pace. While the latter quality is sure to be found in the company’s latest offering, the Alar, the initial reaction to press pictures of the car has been heavily divided between guarded praise and outright criticism. Audi RS5 – Already?

audi rs5

Audi is busy prepping three new versions of its new A5 coupe – headlined by this blistering 450bhp RS5 that arrives early next year to take on its new BMW M3 and Mercedes C63 rivals. Like all R models, the topdog A5 has been fully developed by Quattro, Audi’s in-house go-fast engineering team.

As our impressions show, the RS5 will get the full Quattro treatment. The glorious high-revving 4.2-litre V8 that powers the RS4 gets plumbed into the RS5’s nose, complete with two small and highly responsive turbochargers that will take peak power up to the 450bhp. That’s not a great deal more than the S5’s 354bhp, but the RS5 searing pace will come from its phenomenal blower-enhanced torque – expect at least 500lb ft of twist action to plateau across the rev range.

superleggera

Lamborghini has created the answer to critics of their Gallardo (pronounced ga-yar-do) baby supercar. Despite sporting the famed fighting bull emblem, Lamborghini’s entry-level offering was criticized for its relatively “docile” handling and civilization. However, Sant’Agata’s engineers have addressed these concerns by introducing a lightweight version of the car called the Superleggera. (more…)
