Jaguar’s latest TV ad gets banned

Published by on Jul 17th, 2014, No Comments

jaguar

If you’ve tuned into any television channel in the past month, then its very likely that you have seen Jaguar’s British villains ‘Rendezvous’ ad.

The ad, which features prominent British actors Tom Hiddleston, Ben Kingsley and Mark Strong, showcases the actors as typical, British villains. They ask the camera whether you have ever notched that in Hollywood movies all the super evil villains are always played by Brits.

The ad forms part of Jaguar’s latest ad campaign, ‘It’s good to be bad’. Naturally, with Britain being the home of Jaguar, they play on typical British things, and of course, show us how badass the Jaguar (F-Type in particular) is.

Now while the company has already released a string of ads that for part of its ‘It’s good to be bad’ campaign, the latest one seemed to get more negative attention than positive. (more…)

Volkswagen’s no texting and driving ad hits hard

Published by on Jun 10th, 2014, No Comments

keep your eyes on the road volkswagen

We all know (hopefully) that using your mobile phone while driving is an absolute no no. Whether you are making phone call, sending a text or checking your social media, it is extremely dangerous to use your phone while you are operating a vehicle.

Sure, you might think that you are only taking your eyes off the road for one second, but one second is all you need to cause a terrible accident.

This is what Volkswagen tries to illustrate in their latest ad, promoting the responsible use of mobile phones while driving. And by responsible we mean NOT using your mobile phone at all.

The ad, which was first shown to people in Korea, integrated clever technology to really have a great on effect on the people. (more…)

Tony Hawk jumps over moving Mini

Published by on May 26th, 2014, No Comments

Tony Hawk Mini

Ever wondered what would happen if you give one of the world’s best skateboarders the opportunity to do a trick over a moving car? Well, this.

Superstar skateboarder, Tony Hawk, recently pushed the limits once again when he literally performed an olley (to us non skateboarders, a pretty high jump) over a moving Mini Cooper S. And the result was something pretty spectacular.

Mr. hawk is not new to jumping over cars, either. A couple of years ago he attempted the same feat, by jumping over a Lexus LS. However, the Lexus was not moving – in fact, the car wasn’t even on – and it was parked sideways, which means he only had to jump over the width of the car and not the length. (more…)

Fiat’s new ad features Godzilla

Published by on May 6th, 2014, No Comments

GODZILLA fiat

One wouldn’t really think of the Fiat 500 as a ‘monster’ car. In fact, it’s probably one of the smallest cars available on the market. However, the new Fiat 500L has got a little more bulk to it – enough bulk to take on Godzilla.

The ad starts off with the mother of all monsters, the infamous Godzilla, making his way through a bust up city. Apparently, he’s really hungry and apparently he has quite a taste for Fiat 500’s. As someone says in the ad: “it looks like he’s craving Italian!” Cringe.

The monster then proceeds to gobble up two Fiat 500’s. However, when he spots another Fiat 500 – not realizing it’s the all new Fiat 500L – he has a bit of trouble. (more…)

Video: Caterpillar Machines playing Jenga

Published by on Apr 16th, 2014, No Comments

jenga

We all know the game of Jenga. The game where you remove wooden blocks stacked on each other one by ne and hope and pray that you are not the on to cause the tower to come crashing down.

Well, imagine this game being played on a greater scale – and by greater scale we mean super large blocks being moved by huge Caterpillar machines instead of humans.

This is exactly what the company has done with their latest advertisement. Under the tagline “Designed to get it done no matter what it is”, the huge Caterpillar machines, which include an Escavator and Telehandler, play a friendly game of Jenga.

The ad is shot beautifully and it is actually really interesting to watch. You’ll be on the edge of your seat once one of the machines pulls out two blocks from the bottom row.

Audi Q4 Concept: Preview Sketches

Published by on Apr 9th, 2014, No Comments

AUDI

Audi has become quite renowned for sneaky previews of their latest models. Just as they did with the ads for the S1, Audi has done it again by teasing us with sketches of the highly anticipated Q4 concept.

Audi’s Q4 is a concept SUV tat will combine both fuel and electrical motors. The company has labeled the all new Q4 as a ‘plug-in hybrid crossover’.

Luckily for us, the sketches won’t be the nay thing we will be able to see about the car for a long time. The Q4 will make it’s official debut at the Beijing Auto Show next week. So while it’s all good and well to look at the sketches, we only have a week to go to see the official, real-life model.  (more…)

Lisabank and the what you should know about used cars

Published by on Mar 31st, 2014, No Comments

All used cars for sale at Lisabank are well priced. Lisabank makes buying as simple as possible.

Whether you are searching to buy a sedan, bakkie,or SUV, we have your next vehicle.

What are the benefits of buying a used/second car in today’s economy?

Most of the new cars that South Africa produces do not have enough local manufacturing content

to counteract the effects of a weak South African currency. So buying a second hand vehicle allows

consumers to purchase a depreciated item.

Many 1 and 2 year old vehicles are depreciated by 30 percent yet they may have covered less than

20000 km’s

When looking to buy a car, how can a buyer tell if they are getting the best value for their money?

With comparative shopping! The buyer can use technology (internet) to search for comparable

vehicles and compare value and condition.

Where does Lisabank get their cars from?

Lisabank sources their cars in a variety of ways

• Bank repossessed vehicles

• Trade-ins at franchise dealerships

• Purchases from fleets and companies

• Purchases from private individuals

• Auctions

• Trade-ins against our own stock

• And many other avenues

What does Lisabank offer that is different to their competitors?

MORE CAR FOR LESS MONEY!

Our vehicles are priced to be at the most competitive price at a comparable value.

If a person buys a car and is not happy with the purchase what is the return policy when taking into

consideration that the Consumer Protection Act currently plays a big role?

The CPA clearly states that a consumer may return goods to a supplier within 6 months if the goods

were sold without being accurately described. In other words, a consumer should not expect the

same performance from a used vehicle which has covered extensive mileage compared to a vehicle

that is brand new that has covered no mileage.

I want to be me more considerate to the environment, what kind of cars should I be looking at?

All vehicles being sold as new today carry a tax based on how economical those vehicles are. An

older vehicle whose technology may be outdated contributes negatively to the environment.
